Getting ready before graduation
Welcome!!
The Department of Communicative Disorders and Sciences (CD&S) was one of the first programs in California and has a 40+ year history of providing excellent academic and clinical experiences preparing students for careers as audiologists and speech-language pathologists.
Located in the heart of Silicon Valley, SJSU features a culturally and linguistically diverse educational environment where, per self-report, the 2015 student population was 41.4% Asian, 24.9% Hispanic, 20.5% White, 9.6% not specified, 3.1% African American, 0.4% Pacific Islander, and 0.1% Native American. The CD&S Department reflects this diversity and many CD&S students have language proficiency skills in, for example, American Sign Language, Cantonese, Chu Chou, Farsi, French, Hakka, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Russian, Spanish, Tagalog, Taiwanese, and Vietnamese.
The CD&S Department offers two degrees, the Bachelor of Arts and the Master of Arts. The Bachelor of Arts degree is a pre-professional program intending to prepare students for graduate study in audiology or speech-language pathology. We encourage you to explore our website to learn more about our programs.
